Marianne Roden, Program Chair and Instructor

Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Orthodontic Module (OA), Provincial Instructor Diploma (PID), M.Ed. Curriculum and Post-Secondary Instruction, Simon Fraser University

Marianne has over 30 years’ experience as a Certified Dental Assistant working in both General practice dentistry and in Orthodontics as a treatment coordinator. As a previous board member of the Central Island CDA Society, Marianne enjoys interacting with other dental professionals and being part of a professional team. Marianne has been teaching at Vancouver Island University since 2004 and is committed to helping students succeed in becoming professional, skilled members of the dental profession.


Liz Eccles, Instructor

Liz joined the Dental Assistant Program Faculty at Vancouver Island University in 2004 and has many years’ experience as a certified dental assistant in general and specialty dental practices. She has volunteered in her profession by serving as President of a component society and as a committee member with the Certified Dental Assistants of British Columbia. Since coming to Vancouver Island University she served on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and is a member of the Local Health and Human Services Safety Committee. Liz currently teaches Dental Sciences (Oral Anatomy, Head & Neck Anatomy & Radiography) & Professionalism in addition to clinical components of the program. She has a love of teaching and learning and preparing students to become valued members of the dental profession.
