The Program

The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) program provides students with the knowledge and skills to work with young children and their families in licensed child care settings. Students progress through a series of courses and practica designed to integrate theoretical learning, self awareness, and practical experience in becoming an Infant Toddler Educator. This program is offered part-time and includes the use of Zoom conferencing.

The ECEC program is built on a strengths-based model that honors the skills, abilities and perspectives of the diverse students enrolled in the program.  Working closely with Early Childhood Faculty, the Aboriginal Early Childhood Development Chair at VIU is committed to enhancing the local and cultural relevance of education for Aboriginal early childhood practitioners.
